Regulation of new GMOs

Civil society, farmers and business organizations: Vice-President Timmermans, don’t deregulate GM crops & animals

Open letter: Regulation of new GMOs

Together with 161 other civil society, farmers and business organisations, we call on Frans Timmermans, Vice-President of the European Commission, in an open letter to ensure that all organisms derived from new GMOs continue to be regulated in accordance with the existing European GMO standards.

In an open letter we ask for the protection of the right of farmers and consumers to choose what they plant and eat. In line with the precautionary principle, this means GM food must be risk-assessed, traceable and labelled before entering the market.
